Virtual reality design &development process

VR is one of the rapid approaching trend today. Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. Designing of VR is too different when compared to others. Designers should use size, contrast and color to denote hierarchy. Size is based on the distance between the user and a piece of content in VR, so it’s important to understand the scale of content and appropriate viewing distance. The common way for designing anything, we need pen and paper. So the initial step for designing VR includes paper for describing our ideas. It’s one of the fastest and cheapest ways for describing ideas through sketches.

The main attractive feature of VR we can see the environment moving while our body is stationary, which means it confuses our brain. There are many ways to guide people through your virtual environment. Audio and light are the two non-spatial methods. Google provides developers with two virtual reality (VR) platforms: Cardboard, the world's most popular and accessible mobile VR platform, and Daydream, a new platform for low-latency, immersive, and interactive mobile VR. Daydream is a platform for high quality, mobile virtual reality. The gaming industry has used these techniques for years to help guide people through their journeys. Designing for VR, we have to think about the futuristic methods. When we’re wearing a VR headset, we can’t see what is in your hands. Every platform has different methods to engage with the VR environment.
